Welcome to the HBS Club of Charlotte!
We had a great year in 2008-2009, and we are already hard at work planning an outstanding set of offerings for our members in 2009-2010. Dan Campbell, Smita Quiinn, Kathy Pearce, and Emily Waldon are hard at work planning our programs for next year. They would welcome your ideas as well as your help!
There were many highlights in 2008-2009:
We started with an open house, where we partnered with several other business school clubs for fellowship combined with a rousing discussion of the economic crisis.
We had a very successful Management Development Program. Our alumni instructors once again created a great learning experience for a group of mid-career executives, and we donated $40,000 to 8 deserving non-profits.
We started the Careers in Motion series, which provides our members a great support vehicle as they change careers in these turbulent times.
We continued our Connections networking series, providing an opportunity to network with other HBS Alums and prominent business people.
We enjoyed the Virtual Learning Series, which provided access to the current thinking of some of the top Professors at the Harvard Business School through a series of conference calls.
We ventured out of downtown Charlotte for some great meetings, including Indian Motorcycles in Lowell, the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis, and the Ben Craig Center in the University Area.
We enjoyed presentations by Michael Tarwater, CEO of Carolinas Healthcare System, Steve Macadam, CEO of Enpro Industries, Stephen Julius and Steve Heese of Indian Motorcycles, and Clyde Higgs of the NC Research Campus.
We closed the year with an outstanding discussion on "Entrepreneurship in Turbulent Economic Times, led by Paul Wetenhall and Ross Annable.
We look forward to seeing you in 2009-2010.
