HBS Club of Charlotte Donates $40,000 to 8 Local Non-Profits

The votes are in. Our Management Development Program instructors have voted 8 non-profits to receive $5,000 each.

Dale Mullenix, Executive Director of the Urban Ministry Center accepts a $5,000 check from Tim Johnson, an Instructor in the MDP.

John Burke of the Harvard Business School Club of Charlotte's Management Development Program has announced the recipients of our 2009 grants. The MDP Program recently finished its most successful year ever.

The MDP Program Instructors nominated 16 deserving non-profits, many of which they are personally involved with as a volunteer, a donor, or a board member. The Instructors then voted to select 8 non-profits to receive $5,000 each.

The 8 recipients are:

A Child's Place

The Salvation Army Women's Shelter (Center of Hope)

Urban Ministry Center

Catherine's House

Charlotte Rescue Mission

Crisis Assistance Ministry

Room At The Inn

Thompson Child and Family Focus

The MDP program allows mid-career executives to hone their decision making skills while discussing case studies in accounting, marketing, finance, operations, organizational behavior, leadership, and ethics. Volunteer Charlotte-based alumni of the Harvard Business School teach the course through Harvard’s famous case study method. Currently, 26 local alumni teach in the program.

The club has donated $117,000 (cumulative) over the past 6 years.

Thanks to all our volunteer instructors who helped make this happen.
