“The Harvard Business School Club of Charlotte is pleased to partner with Charlotte Rescue Mission” says Anne Mayfield, Past President of the Charlotte HBS Club. “We appreciate the work Charlotte Rescue Mission does to change lives”.
Receiving the donation was EJ Underwood, Director of Development at Charlotte Rescue Mission. “We are especially grateful for the ongoing support of the Harvard Business School Club of Charlotte” says EJ Underwood. “This is especially significant as Charlotte Rescue Mission does not accept government or United Way funding”. Charlotte Rescue Mission provides a free 90-day Christian residential program for men and women who are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol and are predominately homeless. The Management Development Program Instructors nominated 16 deserving non-profits, many of which they are personally involved with as a volunteer, a donor, or a board member. The Instructors then voted to select 8 non-profits to receive $5,000 each. The Management Development Program allows mid-career executives to hone their decision making skills while discussing case studies in accounting, marketing, finance, operations, organizational behavior, leadership, and ethics. Volunteer Charlotte-based alumni of the Harvard Business School teach the course through Harvard’s famous case study method. Currently, 26 local alumni teach in the program. The Harvard Business School Club of Charlotte has donated $117,000 (cumulative) to non-profits over the past 6 years.
