On a day when even a postman would have had second thoughts about finishing his appointed rounds, a hardy group of Stanford GSB and Harvard Business School alumni gathered on Saturday, September 26 at the Lake Norman home of Stanford GSB alum, Fred Jones (MBA ’73).

Originally intended to be an afternoon of outside activities, including boating and swimming, the unusually cool temperature and rain turned it into an indoor event. Fortunately, Fred’s home could accommodate everyone, which included not only Stanford and Harvard alumni, but their children as well. The highlight was the BBQ which tasted just
as good inside as it would have outside.

Anne Mayfield, a Harvard GSB grad, helped Fred plan the event. Our thanks to both of them for not only their hard work, but also for demonstrating a great principle of management: be flexible and encourage spontaneity!
