In the early 1990s Jim Rogers met a rising star on the HBS faculty and invited him to join the advisory board of Cinergy, the utility that Jim was leading in Ohio. That professor, our current Dean Nitin Nohria, wrote the first of a series of cases that focused on Jim's open and collaborative style of leadership. Jim has since developed a long-standing relationship with HBS, to include joining MBA case discussions as a protagonist on more than a dozen occasions, and integrating new ideas from our faculty into his leadership. He'll offer us an update about applying Porter's "cluster theory" to Charlotte and conclude with some thoughts on business leadership and long term value creation in a world that is increasingly short-term focused.
With an introduction by Duke Energy Commercial Associate and Carolina for Kibera cofounder Rye Barcott (HBS/HKS '09).
**Joint event with Association for Corporate Growth (ACG)
