Why should you join or renew your membership to the HBS Club of Charlotte?

Why? - For several key benefits of club membership:

1) Speaking Events – In the “Events / Upcoming Events” section of this website, we have highlighted the expansive program for this upcoming season. We strive to host events that span a range of highly relevant topics and include the cutting-edge companies in the Charlotte area. Last season’s events included such high profile speakers as Mr. Chris Kearney (CEO of SPX), Mr. James Rogers (CEO of Duke Energy) and Mr. Kevin Scott (CEO of Electrolux). Admission to all events is free for club members.

2) Virtual Learning Series (VLS) – This is a hidden gem – VLS is a unique series of daytime speaking and discussion events held monthly by HBS via a virtual conference call covering business topics of exceptional importance. Access to VLS is available to all paid club members and for those that can’t make a daytime session, recordings of the calls are available on-line at the Events/VLS Archive section of this website. 3) Management Development Program (MDP) – Our hugely successful program where we offer local leadership candidates a taste of the HBS experience. In 2010, we had 32 attendees and from the program proceeds, the HBS Club of Charlotte has donated $173,000 to charitable organizations in the Charlotte area over the last eight years. Instructors volunteer from within our membership ranks.


4) Networking Tools, Access and Opportunities – Available to club members is an updated listing of all current members of the HBS Club of Charlotte. In addition, we hold Connection Meetings after each speaking event in downtown Charlotte that offers a great chance to ask additional questions of the speaker and socialize with other club members. We hold this meeting at the Capital Grille and have Hors D’oeuvres and a cash bar. 


5) Fun and Social Gatherings – We’ve learned that its not all business and have built in events were we and our families can enjoy what Charlotte and the HBS Club of Charlotte has to offer. Past events included trips to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Picnics and sporting events on Lake Norman and our annual MDP program awards evening.
